Glassmakers

Glass has been produced in the Bresle Valley for centuries. Today, in the world, it is the place where the largest number of bottles for the high perfumery industry is manufactured and decorated.

8 glassmakers are members of La Glass Vallée, manufacturers of bottles, jars, decanters, glass tubes for the perfumery, spirits, cosmetics, pharmacy and parapharmacy sectors, 7 of which are located along the Bresle Valley, straddling two regions, Normandy and the Hauts de France.

Verescence, located in Mers-les-Bains and Le Tréport, produces only in automatic mode, essentially for high-end perfumery and cosmetics, but also for spirits. The production capacity exceeds one million bottles per day. A large part of the decoration operations are carried out by subsidiaries of the group located in the Somme and in the Orne. The Verescence group is a world leader.

SGD Pharma has a very recent factory in Saint Quentin La Motte which benefits from the latest technologies. Its speciality is pharmaceutical bottles at the cutting edge of quality and in compliance with international pharmacopoeia. The SGD Pharma group is a world leader.

Waltersperger, located in Blangy sur Bresle, is one of the last two purely semi-automatic units and unique in France. It is specialized in small series, i.e. a hundred units, for dummies for example, to several thousand vials. The series can go up to 10,000 or 20,000 units or sometimes more, but from 50,000 copies, it is generally used to automatic glass factories. Its markets are mainly high-end perfumery and spirits. However, semi-automatic production, because of its flexibility, or the manufacture of pressed glass, is of interest to other markets.

Pochet du Courval produces in its Guimerville plant only in automatic for high-end perfumery and cosmetics. The production capacity also exceeds one million bottles per day. Decorating operations are carried out either on site, in the Gamaches plant or in other Pochet group units, or subcontracted to specialized companies.

ZignagoVetro Brosse is located in Vieux Rouen sur Bresle. In recent years, the company has considerably developed its automatic production while keeping its semi-automatic know-how with the abandonment of the pot furnaces and the implementation of an automatic “picking” system. The production is dedicated to high perfumery and spirits.

Nipro Pharmapackaging France is located in Aumale. Its specialty is the manufacture of drawn glass tubes for the pharmaceutical, paramedical and cosmetic sectors. The three classes of glass used in the pharmacopoeia are available in white or colored glass, as well as blood collection tubes. The Nipro Group is a world leader in its field.

A few kilometers away, in Feuquières, in the Oise region, is the main factory and the headquarters of the Saverglass group. In a few years, Saverglass has become the world leader in bottles and decanters for all types of spirits and other food products. Its development has been based on its unique know-how in the world in the creation of bottles with a very pronounced design.

An increase in their flexibility through a better adaptation of their work tools to the changing demands of the market and a constant search for improvement in glassmaking techniques and their environmental policy have enabled these companies to consolidate their position as a world leader in the bottle industry.
